As the War on Terror continues, the young men and women in the armed services continue to make great sacrifices. I also urge you to salute the men and women who are now on the front line of the War on Terror in your city and across America:
Our local police departments and Police Officers are the new heroes in the “War on Terror” at home. While our military personnel protect our lives and way of life abroad, Police Officers risk their lives every day to protect us and our loved ones here at home.
Make no mistake — no matter what it’s called — the War on Terror at home continues. Experts agree that local police departments shoulder more danger and burden than ever before. Bin Laden’s death ended one chapter in the War on Terror, but the Boston Marathon bombing demonstrates that terrorists continue to target and murder Americans on American soil.
“While this diabolical terrorist’s death at America’s hands is a moment to celebrate, we must never forget the serious terrorist threats that remain and will demand an enduring vigilance,” said U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, regarding Bin Laden’s death.
That’s why the NSCC needs you to help our campaign to educate the U.S. Congress about the urgent need for local police to receive MORE. . . Funding to be effective in their new anti-terror role — and to make sure local police do not drain their annual budgets to fill that role. And MORE Training and information — because few localities have the that there is a compelling need for the federal government to assure local Police Departments have the capability to combat domestic Terrorism.
Our police must have EVERY available tool at their disposal. Their success in their new anti-terror role will depend largely on how well their departments are funded and trained for this mission. But I’m afraid that Congress might not provide local police the resources needed to fight the domestic War on Terror. It’s up to us.
Make no mistake, our country’s War on Terror at home will continue. It continued after Osama Bin Laden’s death … after the Benghazi attack … and The Boston Marathon bombing. And no one knows when or where the next strike against America will be. In our “War on Terror” at home our local Police Departments and their dedicated men and women are our nation’s unsung heroes and they need America’s support.
I have experienced first-hand and up-close the hatred and tenacity of America’s enemies. Those enemy combatants waging today’s War on Terror are no different, and now threaten the very borders, towns and cities of the United States; we cannot sit idly by as this threat grows. I guarantee that Citizens for a Terrorism-Free America (CiTFA) will do everything it can, with your help, to pressure Congress to keep Americans safe.
